Fleeson Gooing attorney Calvin Rider has been recognized by the Kansas Bar Association with a 2024 Pro Bono Award. The award recognizes lawyers or law firms that deliver direct legal services free of charge to the poor, or in appropriate instances to charitable organizations who primarily provide services to the poor.

For over three decades, Calvin has served the public by providing legal advice through the Elder Hotline. The Elder Hotline is a program sponsored by Kansas Legal Services in which private attorneys volunteer their time to field calls from qualifying Kansas residents age 60 or older, and provide them with free legal guidance. Calvin has volunteered to answer questions from elderly Kansans for 33 years, devoting a half day every month to this service.
