Chandler E. Schmidt

Special Counsel

Chandler Schmidt is a registered patent attorney experienced in building intellectual property (IP) portfolios for individual entrepreneurs, small to large manufacturers, and academic institutions. His technical expertise includes agricultural equipment, defense systems, and aerospace components. He also helps clients enforce IP rights, negotiate licensing agreements, navigate IP risks, and perform due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Schmidt is a Kansas native born and raised in Lawrence. He attended the University of Kansas where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He then received his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in 2017 where he received Dean’s Honors.

After law school, Mr. Schmidt lived and worked in the Kansas City area where he was selected as a Super Lawyers top-rated intellectual property attorney and a rising star in 2024-2025. Mr. Schmidt frequently served as a speaker for legal education seminars, including presentations on artificial intelligence and IP, online retailer IP enforcement, and other IP topics. He and his family moved to Wichita in 2026 where he joined Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch to continue his IP practice and assist with client’s corporate and commercial matters.

Outside of his practice, Mr. Schmidt enjoys golfing, sand volleyball, and basketball.
